Jawaharlal Nehru and His Contribution to India
Jawaharlal Nehru, commonly known as Panditji was the 1st Prime Minister of the Independent India. He was an active member of the Indian Independence Movement.Â Nehru is known as one of the successful politician and statesman who devoted his life for improving the economic condition of the country. Â In the year 1947, he was unanimously elected as the head of the Indian Congress Party.
Achievements of Pandit JawaharlalÂ Nehru:
His father, Motilal Nehru was also a nationalist leader and a successful congressman. Throughout his life, Nehru worked closely with Mahatma Gandhi and many times followed his footsteps. Nehru belonged to a wealthy family and he described his childhood as most secured. At the age of 13, he was greatly influenced by Annie Beasant and her Theosophical Society.
Nehru graduated from the Trinity College, Cambridge, specializing in natural science. During his college days, he was impressed and attracted towards economics, history, and literature. He completed his studies from the Inns of Court School of Law. Â He returned to India in the year 1912 and started his practice in the Allahabad High Court. Â He loved children Â and thus his birthday is celebrated as the Childrenâ€™s Day.
